Christmas Curtain Mayhem!!!

As i begin to write this blog late on a Sunday night thinking there is only 15 working days remaining before the office shuts down again for another successful year and the madness of Christmas is halted once again.

For us people in the curtain industry October, November and December see our workload increase by about 50% during these months with everyone in a rush to get the finial pieces of their properties ready for the visit of friends and family on the big day. Some things are guaranteed during this time………….

  1. You will always get a phone call from a client who you visited 6 months ago who now with 4 weeks before Christmas needs the job doing urgently.
  2. Builders will never be on time!!! For my December fittings i will always pre book jobs 4-6 weeks in advance, this will change probably 20 times before the actual date with rooms not being finished in time, carpets not being down or in some cases the windows not even being fitted.
  3. People always leave things too late, Still last week i was getting calls from customers who with good intentions want their window furnishings done just it time for the visit of Santa but getting good quality curtains & blinds made and fitted takes time, generally 4-6 weeks and leaving it any later than mid November means that unfortunately we will not be able to get things done until the early new year.
  4. I currently sit with a full diary knowing that somehow i have 4 more jobs that i have to book in before the 23rd December which is my final day and a handful of jobs which if we get time and can be fitted in before will also need to be done but knowing the office will be shut for 3 weeks and being able to catch up with friends and family over this time makes it all worth it.

Wishing all our customers and blog readers a very
Merry Christmas and happy new year.
